This is an emerging software company based in US.

What the client wanted

The client intended to develop a management system consisted of two core components. One was a WinForms.NET based controlled Sequencing system for anything that needed to be sequenced including Assessments, Courses, Checklists and Workflow. The other was an Org Hierarchy System that allowed users to setup and see an organization including people, areas, skills, jobs and how the all relate to each other.

The client required a truly organized and effective, comprehensive approach toward quality control of ability development and process management.

Approach

Shinetech was involved in this project from the analysis phase, and went through design, development, implementation and test.

To enhance the expandability and maintainability of the system, we adopted multiple-layer model which contained Web Service layer, Business Façade layer, Business Rule layer and Data Access layer. The functions of each layer can be independently changed and the coupling among the models was reduced.

In addition, the system needed to deal with a large amount of data and retrieve the data when page refreshing, which resulted in very strong pressure to the server. Moreover, it took a long time for the waiting pages to display when B/S structure adopted. We cached the data in local computer to realize data synchronization when the system is idle.

In order that users can apply the history setup directly, the data was saved in local computer in XML format when users operate the system.

It's no doubt that the deploying of widows application is very difficult. We hereby adopted the ClickOnce technology to deploy the system which makes deploying a Windows Forms based application as easy as that of a web application.
